New books

Yesterday I picked up two new books: The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs and Complexity: The Emerging Science at the Edge of Order and Chaos by M. Mitchell Waldrop.

I think I will read Complexity first, but I haven’t decided yet. My motivation for reading these two books is to get new perspectives on software architecture. I read Linked recently, and it didn’t contain as much things applicable to software as I had hoped. As for Jacobs’ book, I think that city planning can offer new perspectives. We’ll see.

Thanks to all of you that have ordered books through the Amazon.com links here!

The above was posted to my personal weblog on February 11, 2003. My name is Peter Lindberg and I am a thirtysomething software developer and dad living in Stockholm, Sweden. Here, you’ll find posts in English and Swedish about whatever happens to interest me for the moment.
